Governor Ahmed Aliyu on Sunday declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State is intensifying efforts to consolidate support at the grassroots, describing it as the foundational tier of politics capable of determining electoral outcomes.
The governor spoke at the International Conference Centre, Kassarawa, during a joint maiden meeting with local government chairmen and councillors aimed at strengthening unity of purpose and deepening commitment to party affairs at the grassroots.
Aliyu maintained that grassroots governance and party structures remain central to the APC’s political strategy and service delivery drive.
“We will not ignore the grassroots people. The grassroots level is our stepping stone for any strides,” he said.
He described the gathering as a routine engagement designed to broaden political understanding and critically assess the party’s strength, internal issues, and challenges related to service delivery and community development.
“No political party, association, or group is without its challenges that require solutions. We are thankful to God that we are overcoming every test with wisdom. It is a mark of our strength in unity as a party with overwhelming support in the state and nation,” he added.
Earlier, the Sokoto State APC Chairman, Sadik Isah Achida, said party members and residents of the state remain firmly aligned with the leadership of Governor Aliyu and the State APC leader and former governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko. He described Wamakko’s guidance as instrumental to the party’s performance.
Achida asserted that the APC in Sokoto has no viable opposition, stressing that the party remains cohesive and well-positioned for future electoral successes.
