Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) have apprehended no less than 164 suspects for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities across the state.

Commander of the security outfit, Adetunji Adeleye, who disclosed this during a parade of the suspects on Friday, said the arrests were made during a week-long cooperation.

According to him, the suspects were linked to offences including three cases of suspected kidnapping, 144 breaches of public peace, one rape case, 15 cases of human trafficking, and one violation of the state's anti-open grazing law.

Adeleye said that two of the suspects, identified simply as Henry and Tunde, were arrested in Owo and Akure over alleged armed robbery and kidnapping.

He added that another suspect, Husseini, 35, was linked to armed robbery, while one suspect, Godwin, was arrested over alleged murder and rape.

Others, according to him, include Azeez, 30, accused of arson and escape from lawful custody, and Ademola, Imole and Japhet, aged between 26 and 32, who were apprehended for offences ranging from conspiracy and abduction to assault on security personnel.

Also arrested were Emmanuel, 38, and Ibrahim, 20, for alleged conspiracy, breach of peace and possession of stolen motorcycles, while Emeri and Moses were nabbed for alleged involvement in human trafficking and fraud.

Similarly, Hassan, 24, was arrested for violating the anti-open grazing law and destroying farm produce, while Samson was apprehended for alleged motorcycle theft.

Adeleye further disclosed that another suspect, Emmanuel, allegedly specialised in burgling homes during religious services, while Alabi Ahmed and Victor were arrested in Itaogbolu, Akure North, for alleged conspiracy and theft.

He said items recovered from the suspects include motorcycles, generators, steel and iron materials, among several others.

The Amotekun boss, who commended the state government led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for its support, said the synergy among security agencies, including the police, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Department of State Services, had led to a reduction in crime across the state.
