The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for elevating Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, describing the appointment as well deserved.
Ojukwu, who until Wednesday served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, is the widow of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
In a goodwill message issued on Thursday in Awka and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Emma Madu, Udeze praised the President for what he described as a visionary decision.
He expressed confidence that, given her training, skills and experience in political and public affairs, Ojukwu would deliver effectively in her new role with commitment and diligence.
The Speaker recalled her tenure as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, noting that her performance enhanced the country’s image internationally.
He further commended the President for what he termed placing “a round peg in a round hole” by appointing her to lead Nigeria’s foreign policy and global partnerships.
Udeze added that Ojukwu has continued to make Anambra State and the All Progressives Grand Alliance administration under Governor Chukwuma Soludo proud through her commitment to national service.
He urged Nigerians to support the new minister to enable her succeed in her assignment.
