A dispatch rider has died in a fatal road crash involving a truck at the busy Otedola Bridge corridor in Lagos, less than 24 hours after a similar incident was recorded in the area.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement by its spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq.
The crash occurred inward Secretariat along the Ogudu–Otedola Toll Gate axis, where a heavy-duty Volvo truck reportedly collided with the motorcycle, killing the rider on the spot.
LASTMA operatives, who were on routine patrol, moved quickly to secure and cordon off the scene to prevent secondary accidents, given the heavy traffic flow along the corridor.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) later took custody of the remains of the deceased, while personnel of the Alausa Police Division provided security support during the evacuation process.
The truck and the damaged motorcycle were subsequently removed with the assistance of a tow vehicle, after which traffic movement was gradually restored.

The crash, however, triggered heavy congestion that extended toward the Berger axis before normal flow returned.
Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commiserated with the family of the deceased and urged road users to comply strictly with traffic regulations.
He called for heightened caution among motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles and dispatch riders, noting that the agency would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to reduce road crashes and fatalities across Lagos State.
He said, “LASTMA remains resolute in its commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders in intensifying advocacy initiatives aimed at reducing road fatalities and fostering a sustainable culture of road safety across."
