The Apapa Local Government has begun the distribution of N100,000 each palliative to 4,000 residents through the Apapa Constituency Residence Palliative Economic Generic Data (ACREPEGED).
Its Chairman, Sebanjo Idowu, said the cash palliative was aimed at alleviating poverty and ensuring the dividends of democracy got to people at the grassroots.
“The cash palliative for beneficiaries today is N30 million for 300 people, which is the first phase to be rolled out today, and subsequently for others. In total, 4,000 indigent people will benefit from this cash palliative,” she said.

Describing the initiative as “a testimony to an unfolding event that will herald a better life for our people,” Sebanjo added that since inception, her administration has taken various measures to ensure an enabling environment for the betterment of residents.
She said that the cash palliatives was part of the proceeds from the increased revenue through the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tínubu.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the money for creating employment for themselves.
Sebanjo said: “It is important to once again express our profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for initiating the Renewed Hope for sustaining programmes and various developmental projects in different areas that have touched and affected the lives of Nigerians positively.”
She appreciated the First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his exemplary leadership and also appreciated the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their support.

Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun, while lauding the initiative, said it demonstrated a clear commitment to welfare and speaks directly to the aspiration of citizens, “especially those who work tirelessly every day, yet remain vulnerable from economic pressure.”
“By intending to extend support to our 4,000 residents and workers in Apapa, this initiative reinforces the values of compassion, inclusion, and shared responsibility that must guide governance at all levels. Today’s gesture is not merely about financial assistance. It is a reaffirmation that governance sees you, hears you, and stands with you,” he said.
While urging the beneficiaries to make good use of it, Eshinlokun reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to policies and initiatives that promote social welfare, economic empowerment, and better quality of life for all.
Apapa South-East Leader, John Nzekwe, lauded the council boss for her administration’s effort in tackling security and infrastructural deficit in the council.
He also commended her for upgrading schools in the council, saying that the initiative was a relief for many struggling families.
A beneficiary, Chidinma Vincent, said the initiative was a relief for families facing economic hardship. She said that she planned to use it to address pressing family needs, including providing food and basic necessities for her children.
