A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Damilare Eniade, has called on residents of border communities to remain vigilant and work closely with security agencies to prevent the infiltration of suspected gunmen from neighbouring Kwara State.
Eniade made the appeal on Thursday while donating office equipment to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Odo Otin Local Government Command.
He emphasised that proactive community engagement is essential to sustaining peace and security, particularly amid reports that bandits and armed groups are fleeing parts of Kwara State.
According to him, strengthened collaboration between residents and security operatives will enhance intelligence gathering and deter potential security breaches across border areas.
He said, “We are at a crucial moment with the development happening in Kwara State where Federal and State Governments are fighting bandits. Most of these marauders are fleeing their hideouts and may come to our state, Osun; we must be vigilant and proactive to fight them.
“I want to urge our people, especially at the border communities in Osun State, to report any strange move in their area to security operatives before any security breach.”

“We had cases of kidnapping at Ifedayo council, which bordered Kwara State weeks ago; we must resist a clandestine move by gunmen to make Osun their abode.”
Eniade tasked Nigerians to use everything within their reach to support security operatives across the country to complement the efforts of President Bola Tinubu to tackle insecurity in the country.
“This office equipment I am donating today is part of my own little effort to support our security operatives in this local government area of Osun State. This is to make them comfortable for better operational output.”
The command officer of NSCDC lauded Eniade for his contribution to the welfare of officers at the command, reiterating the command's readiness to always ensure that the people sleep with two eyes closed.
