A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state, Ikponmwosa Clement Aitusi, commended Edo state Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for procuring and distributing 54 units of heavy-duty construction equipment to the 18 local government councils in the state.

The items, commissioned by FCT Minister Nyelsom Wike and handed over to the local government councils, include caterpillars/graders, excavators, and rollers.

The equipment was officially handed over to the state chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria on February 23, 2026.

Aitusi said in a statement in Abuja that the equipment will boost rural road construction, drainage rehabilitation, environmental waste disposal, and other community-driven infrastructural development in the local government areas.

According to him, the initiative aims to move development beyond the state capital to rural communities and improve the capacity of local governments to deliver on their mandates.

Aitusi asked the chairmen, particularly the acting chairman of Ikpoba/Okha local government, to ensure adequate maintenance of the equipment and use it for the public good rather than storing it.
