A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Princewill Dike, has recommended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as the most suitable candidate to head President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 re-election campaign.

Dike, a Port Harcourt-based lawyer, made the call on Monday, expressing confidence in Wike’s political capacity to lead a successful campaign for the President.

He noted that Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, demonstrated strong political acumen during his tenure, particularly in navigating complex political contests and outmanoeuvring opponents.

According to him, appointing Wike as Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council would significantly boost Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term.

“I have consistently maintained that if Wike becomes the Director-General of the President’s re-election campaign, his opponents will face a formidable challenge,” Dike said.

He further described Wike as a politician with an extensive nationwide network and the ability to mobilise resources effectively without placing undue financial pressure on the presidency.

Dike also commended Wike’s work ethic, stating that he possesses the capacity to engage stakeholders across the country and deliver results.

He added that the minister understands the political landscape and has the ability to identify and work with key actors capable of delivering electoral victories, noting his popularity among various demographics, particularly young people.

Dike added, "Recently, he delivered the FCT Area Council election candidates to the APC. Even as a PDP member, the only one won by the PDP was under his rainbow coalition alliance. Senator Ereti Kingibe did not win even in her unit!

"He is a goal getter with the unction of the Midas touch; anything he touches turns gold."

"It is, therefore, my fervent prayer that P-BAT should cherry-pick the star boy of his administration, Minister Wike, to be the Presidential Campaign Council DG of his re-election."
