Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups Council has endorsed The Renewed Hope Network (TRN) as its strategic “special purpose vehicle” to drive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

The Deputy Director-General of the council, Dr A.K. Peters, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday following high-level deliberations with the TRN technical team.

Peters said about 1,500 registered support groups within the council had aligned with the TRN, a platform powered by former Zamfara State governor and current senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari.

He described the network as the primary engine for grassroots mobilisation in support of the President’s second-term bid.

Explaining the endorsement, Peters cited the network’s growing nationwide traction.

“The level of acceptability of TRN by Nigerians is unprecedented, and the APC Support Groups Council cannot be left out,” he said. “Within the APC, we have over 3,500 registered support groups, out of which 1,500 have approved partnership with The Renewed Hope Network. We are confident that another 2,000 groups will join the network between now and Easter.”

Although the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has yet to lift the ban on political campaigns, the TRN has commenced early groundwork, including the mobilisation of polling unit canvassers nationwide ahead of the presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Peters attributed the network’s rapid expansion to the leadership of Senator Yari, noting that the TRN is focused on building a formidable grassroots political movement within a short timeframe while extending its reach across the country.

He added that the council was committed to mobilising broad-based support to ensure Tinubu’s re-election and swearing-in for a second term on May 29, 2027.

According to him, the TRN remains a viable platform for sustaining the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda beyond its first term, with structures and strategies tailored to address the dynamics of grassroots politics nationwide.
