....predicts nationwide victory in 2027

From Jide Orintunsin - Abuja

The Deputy National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Chidi Nze Duru, has dismissed concerns over a possible internal crisis ahead of the party’s National Convention scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026.

Duru attributed the party’s stability to a deliberate consensus arrangement aimed at unifying stakeholders across all levels. He spoke on Tuesday after being cleared by the National Convention Screening Committee at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja.

The former federal lawmaker described preparations for the convention as a demonstration of political mediation, noting that the consensus model reflects institutional maturity rather than a lack of competition.

“I would like to see the exercise as majorly consensus-building,” he said. “It underpins the basic tenet for which APC is known—bringing people together behind the scenes and working hard to ensure there is no rupture and no implosion.”

He acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable in a large political party but maintained that the APC’s internal mechanisms are strong enough to manage differences and prevent instability.

“Once a party has the internal mechanism to bring people together and say, ‘Look, there can only be one person occupying a particular office,’ it augurs well for ensuring the party is built on firm foundations,” he added.

On preparations for the 2027 general elections, Duru said the party is building a formidable structure capable of securing victory across all geopolitical zones, stressing that its strategy now focuses on national cohesion rather than regional considerations.

“Our push and our mantra is to deliver all the states, including the FCT,” he said. “Whether it is South-East, South-West, North-Central, or North-West, the party is positioned and primed to win a majority of the votes in all the nooks and corners of Nigeria.”

He further noted that the influx of high-profile members has strengthened the party’s standing, describing it as the dominant political platform ahead of the next election cycle.

While acknowledging economic challenges facing Nigerians due to global pressures, Duru expressed confidence that the APC-led administration is laying a solid foundation for recovery and sustained growth.

"The government is taking steady steps to ensure that those challenges are moderated," Duru assured. "In the next few months, you will begin to see the results of the hard work being done by this government. We are going to compete based on what we have done for the Nigerian people—the development we have brought and, of course, putting food on the table."
