Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) has honoured outgoing 13th President and Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), Oluropo Dada, for his contributions to the development of Nigeria’s capital market.

Dada beat the ceremonial closing gong at the NGX, a symbolic honour reserved for distinguished personalities. He assumed office as President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers in July 2024, having previously served as both 1st and 2nd Vice President.

Speaking at the event, Group Chairman, Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) Plc, Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, commended Dada’s leadership, describing him as humble and impactful. He said the Institute recorded notable progress during his tenure, including stronger engagement with government at multiple levels.

Group Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Temi Popoola, praised Dada’s inclusive leadership style and urged him to remain actively involved in advancing the capital market beyond his tenure.

Chairman, Association of Securities Dealing Houses of Nigeria, Sehinde Adenagbe, said Dada’s administration strengthened collaboration between ASHON and CIS, noting that both bodies had worked more closely toward shared industry objectives.

In his remarks, Dada expressed appreciation to NGX and market stakeholders for their support, making his tenure rewarding and impactful. He called for sustained collaboration across the industry and urged stakeholders to support the incoming CIS President and principal officers.

“The future of our market remains bright,” he said, expressing confidence that continued cooperation would drive further growth and development.

The event was attended by the Head of the Lagos Liaison Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria, John Briggs, who represented the Director-General, Dr  Emomotimi Agama, the Institute’s 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents, Fiona Ahimie and Dr Akeem Oyewale, the Registrar and Chief Executive, Ayorinde Adeonipekun. Also present were senior NGX officials, stockbrokers, the Managing Director of the Lagos Commodities and Futures Exchange, Akin Akeredolu-Ale, and representatives of the CFA Society Nigeria, Institute of Capital Market Registrars, the Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria, and the Fund Managers Association of Nigeria among others all of who commended Dada’s leadership.
