The President of the Nigerian Citizens Association South Africa (NICASA), Frank Onyekwelu, has advised Nigerians in Gauteng, South Africa, to apply caution and be vigilant ahead of the planned anti-foreign nationals march.
Onyekwelu announced that the proposed anti-foreign nationals march and protest is scheduled to take place from April 27 to 29.
In a message to fellow Nigerians living in South Africa, the NICASA president urged the protesters to avoid unnecessary travel and movements within affected areas, especially in identified protest zones and city centres.

The NICASA leadership said it wished to formally alert and sensitise all Nigerians residing in Gauteng Province and its environs in view of the nature and underlying sentiments associated with such protests.
It noted that considering past experiences, “we strongly advise all members of our community to exercise maximum caution and vigilance during this period”.

NICASA also advised Nigerians in South Africa to take the following steps: Limit Movement:
All Nigerians are advised to minimise unnecessary travel and movement within affected areas, especially in identified protest zones and city centres.

Onyekwelu also advised business owners to consider temporarily closing shops, offices, and other business premises during the protest days as a precautionary measure to safeguard lives and property.The NICASA president also urged Nigerians in South Africa to stay away from protest routes, large gatherings, and areas where tensions may escalate.”
“As much as possible, remain indoors, monitor credible news sources, and follow updates from NICASA and relevant authorities. Keep communication lines open with family and community leaders, and report any suspicious activities promptly.
“We urge all Nigerians to remain law-abiding, avoid confrontations, and cooperate with local law enforcement authorities at all times,” he said.
