The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Adebayo Babalola has tasked troops of the 243 Recce Battalion and 15 Field Engineer Regiment in Badagry to remain disciplined, professional, and law-abiding in the discharge of their duties.
Babalola gave the directive on Tuesday during an operational and familiarisation visit to units in Badagry. He expressed satisfaction at the professionalism displayed by the troops, urging them to sustain the standard.
The GOC said ongoing reforms within the Army were aimed at improving operations and service conditions, assuring personnel that their welfare and that of their families remained a priority under the Army’s Soldier First Culture.

He warned them against harassment of law-abiding civilians, stressing the need to comply with the rules of engagement at all times.

During the visit, Babalola commissioned a newly constructed bus stop at the battalion’s main gate, planted a tree, inspected armoured vehicles, and visited the medical centre, where he interacted with personnel receiving treatment.

At the 15 Field Engineer Regiment, Topo Barracks, he toured facilities including the medical centre and the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association crèche, nursery and primary school after receiving an operational briefing from the regiment’s command.

As part of his engagements, the GOC paid a condolence visit to the palace of the late Akran of Badagry, Oba De Wheno Aholu Menu Toyi I, who died at 89.
He described the monarch as a promoter of culture, tourism, and peace, conveying condolences on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff.
Babalola was accompanied by formation commanders and staff officers of the division, a statement by the spokesman for the division, Lt. Col Musa Yahaya, said.
