Army stands firm, resolute in confronting all forms of terrorism — COAS

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has said that despite the evolving nature of security threats across the country, the Nigerian Army will remain steadfast and decisive in confronting all forms of terrorism.

Shaibu said on Friday during an operational visit to Yobe State, where he was received by the State Governor, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, in Damaturu, the state capital

In a statement by the Army’s spokesperson, Colonel Apollonia Anele, Lt.-Gen Shaibu reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's determination to defeat all security threats confronting the nation, with the continued support of citizens. 

He said the Army is constantly adapting its approaches to match changing dynamics, urging state governments to enhance their support for troops engaged in frontline operations.

The COAS commended the government and people of Yobe State for their unwavering support to the Nigerian Army, emphasizing that such cooperation is vital to achieving lasting operational success.

The Governor who was represented by his deputy applauded the Nigerian Army for its pivotal role in restoring peace in affected parts of the country.

He highlighted the Army’s resilience and commitment to duty, noting that despite operational pressures, it has continued to achieve commendable successes. 

He also offered prayers for the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

The Army's Chief visited the Headquarters, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI in Damaturu, where he interacted with troops. He charged them to remain aggressive and relentless in dealing with terrorists, in honour of fallen comrades and in pursuit of lasting peace and security.

While at the Headquarters, Sector 2, the COAS received the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, who was accompanied by Senator Ali Ndume, who had paid him a condolence visit over the loss of personnel during recent encounters with terrorists. 

Zulum pledged to evolve additional strategies in support of security agencies in response to the dynamic nature of the threats.
