Troops of the Nigerian Army, 14 Brigade Headquarters, Ohafia, attached to 145 Battalion (rear) serving under Operation Eastern Sanity have successfully recovered a stolen vehicle during an ongoing search and rescue operation in Abia State.

Information has it that the operation was conducted within the Uratta and Umuchima Forest.

Confirming the incident, the Assistant Director Army Public Relations 14 Brigade, Captain Mazinho Attah, disclosed that the Brigade acting on credible intelligence deployed troops to Umuchima Forest axis to carry out a carefully coordinated search and rescue operation.

"During the operation, the troops successfully recovered one stolen vehicle, a Toyota Camry which had earlier been snatched from a victim, one Mr. Bright Ochinachi.

"Investigations revealed that the victim was abducted along the Umuahia–Aba Road on 15 March 2026 but later managed to escape from captivity.

"The recovery of the vehicle marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within the area.

"Troops however have maintained sustained patrols and intelligence-driven operations aimed at tracking down and apprehending the perpetrators. The recovered vehicle is currently in custody and will be handed over to the rightful owner after investigations.

"The Nigerian Army reassures members of the public of its unwavering commitment towards ensuring the safety and security of lives and property.

"Residents are further encouraged to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations by troops.”
