A seasoned financial expert and former Southwest Cordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students, (NANS), Comrade Alao John Oluwadamilola has declared his intention to be the national Financial Secretary of NANS.

He said his ambition was borne out of passion to reposition NANS financial architecture for transparency, accountability, strengthening institutional credibility through structured financial leadership, and seal for student empowerment through strategic financial innovation among others.

Speaking with newsmen, Alao emphasized importance of competent and visionary financial leadership, which he said has increasingly come to the forefront of national discourse within student movement.

According to him, office of the National Financial Secretary remained one of the most critical arms of the association, responsible not only for financial documentation but for ensuring discipline, transparency, and the strategic utilization of resources.

He stated that recent developments within the association have further amplified call for a financial system that is structured, accountable, and capable of delivering measurable value to Nigerian students.

He said concerns surrounding underperformance of financial processes, weak accountability structures, and the limited translation of financial resources into impactful student oriented programmes have made it imperative for a new direction to emerge.

"It is against this backdrop that my declaration to contest for the position of National Financial Secretary has continued to attract significant attention and support across various levels of the student movement.

"Widely recognized as a seasoned financial expert with vast experience in student unionism, i will bring a depth of knowledge and practical exposure that positions me as a strong contender for the office. My journey within the student movement reflects years of consistent engagement, progressive leadership, and an unwavering commitment to institutional growth.

"From my early involvement in campus based leadership to my roles within zonal coordination and my current national responsibilities, i have demonstrated a clear understanding of organizational systems, administrative discipline, and effective leadership.

"My experience has not only exposed me to the operational realities of NANS but has also equipped me with the insight required to drive meaningful reforms within its financial framework.

"My background in finance places me in a position to introduce reforms that will strengthen internal financial controls, improve reporting mechanisms, and enhance the credibility of financial operations within NANS. My approach is expected to emphasize discipline, proper record keeping, and adherence to financial standards that align with modern organizational practices.

"Beyond structural improvements, there is also a clear focus on impact. My vision is centered on ensuring that the financial strength of the Association translates into tangible benefits for students across the country. This includes the attraction of strategic partnerships, facilitation of access to grants, and the development of empowerment driven initiatives that will directly support Nigerian students.

"This approach represents a shift from traditional financial management to more dynamic and result oriented system where financial leadership serves as a tool for student development and economic support.

"Across various zones and institutional structures, consultations and engagements have continued to indicate growing confidence in my capacity to deliver on this mandate. My candidacy is increasingly being viewed as timely, necessary, and aligned with the broader objective of repositioning NANS into a more efficient, credible, and impactful organization.
