Award-winning expert in audio-visual tech, content production and broadcast solutions, Aderemi Ogunpitan, has commended the National Assembly for amending the Electoral Act and authorising the electronic transmission of election results in Nigeria.

Ogunpitan is the founder of IBST, a hi-tech media solutions and production company.

He noted, "The world is racing with speed, and everything is going electronically into the clouds. Nigeria should not lag.

“Electronic transmission of election results, if well implemented, makes for effective high-speed transmission of election results, reducing delays and cutting the time of waiting in half.

"It is also expected to reduce incidents of rigging. For this, I commend the Senate and the House of Reps for acting towards Nigeria's greatness.

"However, I also recommend that INEC acquire LiveU, the latest tested and trusted wave-making mobile solution for monitoring and surveillance for on-the-spot coverage of the elections. I strongly believe that LiveU, which has been used in coverage of elections and other international sports events like the Paris Olympics and the last British elections, could be a game-changer for INEC in future elections in Nigeria.

"I therefore urge INEC Chairman Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan to go the extra length of improving the commissions on- the- spot coverage of elections by acquiring LiveU ecosystem and Broadcast units which are capable of transmitting quality visuals from any locations, no matter the terrain.”

According to Ogunpitan, who set up and directed the entire transmission of the All Africa Games of 2003, which Nigeria hosted.  LiveU is a panacea for free and fair elections in Nigeria, adding that the era of moving heavy-duty OB vans to cover live events is over.

LiveU comes in a backpack, working with normal sim cards, and is so easy to use.

"Seeing on the spot nationwide activities at election and collation centres will no doubt complement the National Assembly approval of electronic transmission of results for elections in Nigeria.
