The Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area, Lukmon Agbaje, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development and grassroots economic support with the launch of the Renewed Hope Cash Empowerment Programme and the distribution of free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Examination (JAMB) forms to indigent students.

Speaking at the event held at the council secretariat, the chairman described the initiative as part of efforts to promote inclusive governance and expand opportunities for residents.

According to him, the programme reflects the administration’s dedication to improving livelihoods and supporting education in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Agbaje said the Cash Empowerment Programme was designed to support small business owners, artisans, traders, and entrepreneurs within the LCDA.

He explained that the initiative would provide financial assistance to beneficiaries, noting that the aim was not just to distribute money but to invest in the dreams of residents and stimulate grassroots economic growth.

“Economic empowerment remains a key pillar of sustainable development. When small businesses thrive, families prosper and the entire community benefits,” he said.

The chairman also highlighted the importance of education, noting that the council had provided free JAMB forms to qualified and indigent students to ensure that financial challenges did not hinder access to higher education.

According to him, education remains a powerful tool for transformation and long-term progress.

He urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity by studying diligently and remaining focused on their academic goals.

“This support is an investment in your potential, and we expect excellence in return,” he added.

He assured residents that the selection process for beneficiaries of the programme was conducted with transparency, accountability, and fairness to ensure that the support reaches those who genuinely need it.

Earlier in her remarks, the Council Manager, Mrs. Funmi Bankole-Bawa, described the initiative as one of the key pillars of the administration’s Renewed Hope and THEMES Plus development agenda.

She disclosed that the council approved the distribution of 500 free West African Senior School Certificate Examination (GCE) forms to encourage educational advancement among students.

Bawa also explained that the Renewed Hope Empowerment Initiative targets 100 traders in the council area, each receiving a grant of N100,000 to support their businesses.
