A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State, Prince Wale Oluwa, has cautioned against what he described as a narrow and misleading interpretation of marginalisation within the Badagry Division, warning that such a narrative risks distorting political realities and sidelining critical stakeholders.
Speaking with journalists, Oluwa who also holds the traditional title of Maiyegun of Iwa and Apapa Kingdom challenged the growing tendency in political discourse to equate Badagry Division solely with Badagry Local Government Area.
He stressed that this limited framing undermines the true structure of the division, which comprises multiple local government areas and Council Developments Areas and diverse other communities bound by shared history, culture, and political aspirations.
According to him, the long-standing agitation over marginalisation in Badagry Division must be situated within its full geographical and political context.
He noted that at a time when calls for equity, justice, and fair political compensation are gaining momentum in Lagos State’s evolving power matrix, narrowing the conversation to a single local government is not only misleading but strategically damaging.
Oluwa argued that such a restricted interpretation could be deliberate, warning that it risks alienating other constituent communities within the division that also possess legitimate claims to inclusion and recognition.
He maintained that only a holistic and inclusive framing of Badagry Division can guarantee fairness and credibility in ongoing and future political engagements.
The APC stalwart, who was a chairmanship aspirant in Ajeromi-Ifelodun which forms part of the Badagry geo political division during the last local government elections, further urged political actors to avoid sectional narratives capable of breeding distrust and division.
He called instead for a fact-driven, inclusive approach that reflects the collective identity and interests of the entire division.
Beyond his political engagements, Prince Oluwa is widely regarded as a grassroots mobiliser and development advocate, with strong footprints in enterprise and humanitarian interventions. As a Man of great impact and humanitarian services, he has built a reputation for community-focused initiatives and empowerment-driven leadership, further strengthening his influence within and beyond party lines.
Oluwa also reaffirmed his confidence in the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the President as a seasoned political strategist known for fairness, depth, and balance.
He emphasised that Tinubu, as leader of the APC, understands the intricate political permutations across Lagos State and would not be swayed by misrepresentation or narrow interests.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains a father to all within the party. His leadership is anchored on justice, inclusiveness, and a broad appreciation of political realities. Attempts to distort facts at this critical time will only serve as distractions,” Oluwa stated.
He warned that any manipulation of the marginalisation narrative could derail party cohesion at a crucial period when unity is most needed, particularly as political alignments and recalibrations intensify ahead of future elections.
Calling for unity and strategic focus, Oluwa urged party faithful and stakeholders to embrace prayers, coordination, and collective responsibility to sustain the dominance of the APC in Lagos State and consolidate its hold at the national level.
He stressed that the success of the party and the stability of its leadership depend on the unwavering commitment of its members.
“Our great party requires discipline, unity, and shared purpose at this moment. This is not a season for division, but for consolidation and strategic alignment. We must rise above sectional interests and work together to secure the future of our party and our people,” he added.
