• Decries attacks on Kwara communities

All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe, has decried bandits attacks on Kwara State communities.

Medical doctor-turned politician, added that attacks on Kwara communities in the southern and northern regions had broken the peace of the state.

“Kwara is called the ‘State of Harmony’, but today, that harmony is broken. Kwara North has endured massacres, Kwara South faces kidnappings. Kwara Central is not immune; displaced families and ransom negotiations now touch Ilorin, our state capital,” he lamented.

The former Senate Committee Chair on Health, said this in Ilorin during the declaration of intention to seek the nomination of APC for the office of governor next year.

According to him, our security issues are not lack of security forces or slow response, but community disconnection which can be bridged, he added.

He has a-five point security restoration plan if elected as the next governor of the state.

The points are intelligence fusion centre, Kwara community security trust, technology and innovation centre, early warning system and security corridors for farmers and schools.

Said he: “I am offering myself not to divide our party; not to pull down what has been built and not to begin to quarrel with the past.

“Mine is not a message of disruption. Mine is a message of continuity with improvement. Mine is not a promise of drama. Mine is a promise of disciplined progress.”

A United States-based governorship aspirant, Dr Oluwatoyin Alabi, used the opportunity offered by the occasion of his 63rd birthday to announce his intention to contest the Kwara  governorship election under APC.

He pledged to steer the state toward inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Addressing party leaders, traditional rulers, clergy, youth, women, and residents, Alabi outlined a vision focused on stability, opportunity, and prosperity for all Kwarans.

“I stand before you not merely to celebrate another year, but to embrace the responsibility of destiny.

“Kwara is blessed—with fertile land, resilient people, and rich culture—but potential alone does not build prosperity. What transforms a state is responsible leadership.”

Alabi detailed priorities for his administration, including modernising agriculture to create wealth, equipping schools for global competitiveness, ensuring proactive security, making healthcare affordable and accessible, and developing infrastructure to connect people to opportunities. He also highlighted tourism as an economic driver and urged youths to be innovators, not just voters.

“With humility, conviction, and an unwavering belief in the greatness of our people, I hereby formally declare my intention to contest for the office of Governor of Kwara State. This is not a personal ambition. It is a generational responsibility. Together, we will build a Greater Kwara—not through slogans, but through structure; not through division, but through inclusion; not through improvisation, but through policy,” Dr. Alabi said.
