A medical doctor identified as Dr. Anthony Eghagagara, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen at about 9 pm on Thursday at his private clinic in Wawa, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Eghagagara, who is also a staff member and Head of Medical Service of General Hospital New Bussa, was said to have been attending to patients at his private clinic when the bandits invaded the facility and took him away while shooting into the air to scare people away.

His wife said the bandits have contacted the family and are demanding a ransom of N150 million for his release.

Confirming the incident, the Niger State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Isah Muhammad Danasabe, said the state government is aware of the situation and efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe release of the doctor.
