ASHA Microfinance Bank has marked International Women’s Day with a celebration at Mushin Market, reinforcing its commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs and supporting the communities it serves.

The event brought together market leaders, traders, and the business community. It was hosted by Baba Oja of Mushin Market, Alhaji Bolaji Awoyemi and the Iyaloja, Alhaja Sodiq Borokini.

An highlight was unveiling of actress and film producer, Dr. Jaiye Kuti, as Brand Ambassador. The appointment reflects the bank’s strategic effort to deepen its engagement with entrepreneurs, particularly women in local markets.

Dr. Kuti, a respected figure in the film industry, rose to prominence in 2002 and has starred in Sacred, Eni Agbelebu, Jayeola Ni Mo Nje, Olorunosebi, Igbo Kadara, and Ewon Laafin. Her recent works, including Alagbede, showcases her influence in the industry.

In line with this year’s theme: “Give to Gain,” the bank organised a free medical outreach for Mushin Market community. The outreach provided health support to traders and residents, highlighting the bank’s holistic approach to empowerment.

Chief Executive, Funmilola Paseda-Oladoyinbo, lauded attendees and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting women-led businesses.

“Women are central to economic development, especially in market communities. At ASHA, we believe empowering women entrepreneurs strengthens families, businesses, and the economy. This is our way of honouring their resilience and supporting their growth,” she said.

Dr. Kuti praised the dedication and hard working market women, encouraging them to leverage ASHA’s services to expand and strengthen their businesses. She interacted with traders, promoting solutions available through the bank.

This reinforced the bank’s mission to expand financial inclusion and drive sustainable growth through accessible and responsible financial services.
