He also preached that love and tolerance should prevail above violence, killings, agitations, and other divisive tendencies.

“Easter teaches us that sacrifice is the pathway to glory, that suffering is never the end of the story, and that with faith in God, hope can rise again even in difficult times,” Yilwatda stated.
Addressing the nation’s security landscape, the APC Chairman expressed deep concern over the persistent threats of banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping. While commiserating with families affected by violence, he urged citizens not to succumb to the “politics of fear.”
“At a time like this, we must not allow fear, division, or despair to define us as a people. Rather, we must stand together in unity and resolve, trusting God and supporting all lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace,” he said.
He emphasized that the nation requires individuals who will move beyond mere professions of faith to living out values of righteousness and compassion in both public and private spheres.
Yilwatda used the occasion to throw his weight behind the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He highlighted the President’s ongoing “strategic interventions” and institutional reforms as evidence of the government’s commitment to overhauling the nation’s security architecture.
He called for a multi-level collaboration involving community leaders, faith-based institutions, and security agencies to ensure that justice and order prevail across the federation.
The APC Chairmam then urged Christian faithful to dedicate the Easter season to pray for those in the line of national service and for the healing of the country.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the forum said the Easter season, which marks the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, remains a period of deep reflection, sacrifice, compassion and goodwill.
The ACF noted that this year’s celebration comes amid worsening social, economic and political challenges confronting Nigerians, particularly persistent insecurity and rising criminality across the country.
It lamented that the situation has continued to deteriorate across the three geopolitical zones of Northern Nigeria, where many communities have suffered repeated attacks, loss of lives, destruction of property, displacement and fractured inter-group relations due to the activities of armed groups and other criminal elements.
Despite the grim realities, the forum said the willingness of citizens to celebrate Easter reflects resilience and enduring hope for a better future, expressing optimism that the country’s challenges are not insurmountable.
The ACF called on Christians and all Nigerians to remain peaceful, law-abiding and prayerful, stressing the need for unity in seeking peace, justice, equity and economic recovery for the nation.
Don’t lose hope, Archbishop urges citizens
The Archbishop of Kaduna Province and Bishop of Kaduna Anglican Diocese, Rev Timothy Yahaya, has urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite prevailing challenges, expressing optimism that the country will experience restoration.
Delivering his Easter message in Kaduna, the cleric drew a parallel between Nigeria’s current situation and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, stressing that just as hope followed despair, the nation would witness a turnaround.
“Nigerians must not give up hope. The God we serve is a God of resurrection. Just as there was resurrection morning, there will be restoration for this country,” he said.
Yahaya added that with faith, resilience and perseverance, Nigeria could regain its economic strength and return to the path of stability.
He noted that the mood of the nation ahead of future elections appears gloomy, with many citizens demoralised by economic hardship and concerns over governance.
The Archbishop, however, cautioned political leaders to act within the bounds of the law, warning against actions capable of undermining democratic principles.
“Democracy has rules and regulations. What we are seeing today raises serious concerns. To be in opposition or to speak the truth should not be treated as a crime,” he said.
On insecurity, the cleric maintained that killings in parts of the country had not abated as widely claimed, stressing that rural communities continue to bear the brunt of persistent attacks.
