The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group (BAT-IG) has welcomed the recent cabinet reshuffle by the President, describing it as a necessary and commendable step toward strengthening governance and enhancing service delivery in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The group noted that this decisive action came exactly seven days after it sent an open letter to the President dated 14th April, 2026, where it called for urgent accountability and performance-driven evaluation across government Agencies. In the letter, BAT-IG urged the President to demand measurable results from political office holders, emphasising that leadership must be matched with tangible outcomes that reflect the administration’s vision.

According to the official statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the reshuffle saw the exit of Mr. Wale Edun and Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

In the new arrangement, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele has been elevated to serve as the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, while Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been nominated as Minister of Housing and Urban Development. The transition process is expected to be concluded on or before Thursday, 23rd April, 2026.

The President explained that the reshuffle is aimed at strengthening cohesion, improving synergy in governance and delivering more impactful economic outcomes for Nigerians.

Reacting to the development, BAT-IG described the move as a bold demonstration of leadership and responsiveness, noting that it aligns with the spirit and intent of its recent open letter which called for decisive action against underperformance. This is a pointer to the President being a listening leader.

The group, however, urged the President to extend the ongoing reform to other federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that have remained largely inactive or underperforming since the inception of this administration.

BAT-IG expressed concern that several MDAs have failed to effectively interpret and implement the President’s vision, noting that many appointees have neither demonstrated innovation nor provided visible results aligned with the administration’s manifesto.

According to the group, some officials have become disconnected from their responsibilities, thereby undermining public confidence and slowing down national development.

This development is expected to serve as a clear warning to public office holders who, relying on perceived political patronage or proximity to the President, neglect their responsibilities instead of working diligently toward the progress and development of the nation.

While applauding the President for taking decisive action, BAT-IG emphasised the need for a comprehensive evaluation of all political appointees across federal, state and local government levels. The group called for appropriate sanctions against individuals who have failed to justify the trust reposed in them.

BAT-IG further urged that those found to have ridiculed the administration through inaction or poor performance should not be given future opportunities to serve in public office.

The group reaffirmed its support for the President and prayed for continued wisdom, strength and courage as he undertakes the task of repositioning the nation’s governance structure for optimal performance.

BAT-IG reiterated that sustained reforms and accountability remain critical to achieving the full objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda and delivering meaningful progress to Nigerians.
