A political support group backing the governorship ambition of Senator Shehu Buba Umar in Bauchi State has raised N50 million to purchase his nomination form ahead of the 2027 elections.

The announcement was made on Tuesday during a press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Bauchi.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the Contact and Mobilisation Committee said the funds were jointly contributed by associates, supporters, and political allies of the senator as part of efforts to advance his governorship aspiration.

The committee said the gathering was convened to formally inform the public of their decision to back the senator, following consultations among key stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress.

According to the group, members reviewed the state's political landscape before reaching a consensus to support a candidate they believe can govern effectively.

They described the N50 million contribution as both financial backing and a show of confidence in Senator Umar’s leadership experience, legislative record, and grassroots connection.

The group further noted that the senator has demonstrated a clear understanding of Bauchi State’s developmental needs, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic development, adding that his vision aligns with the aspirations of citizens across the state.

The committee called on APC members and other stakeholders to support his ambition during the party primaries and in the general elections.

They maintained that their decision reflects a unified position aimed at strengthening internal cohesion within the party ahead of the 2027 political cycle.
