State Chairman, Johnny Derek, said in a statement yesterday that the suspension strictly complies with the directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which mandated all political parties to maintain the status quo.

According to him, the directive is final and binding, adding that "no individual or group is permitted to organize or participate in any unauthorized congress or gathering."

Part of the statement reads, "Any individual or group who dares to organize, convene, sponsor, or participate in any form of unauthorized congress or gathering in contravention of this directive will be considered to be deliberately undermining lawful authority and destabilizing the peace and order of the party and state."

Derek said security agencies are on alert to monitor and prevent any unlawful gatherings conducted under the guise of party activities.

He urged members to comply with the directive, stressing "that ignorance or reliance on unauthorized instructions will not be accepted as an excuse."
