A prominent governorship aspirant under African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani, has pacified her supporters protesting conduct of congresses by the party despite court restraint.

The supporters, many of whom bought nomination forms to participate in the congresses, are complaining that they were sidelined and deprived of the opportunity to present themselves at the congresses.

Binani, who had herself earlier faulted the conduct of the congresses despite a subsisting court order against them and assurances to her by the congress committee that the congresses would not go on, told her supporters, nonetheless, to exercise patience pending what the court would decide about the congresses.

Prior to the conduct of the state, local government and ward congresses by an ADC committee in Adamawa towards last weekend, the state Chairman of the party, Yohanna Shehu, had gone to court complaining that he and his exco and many other stakeholders were being contacted by the congress committee.

The High Court sitting in Yola had ordered suspension of the congresses till determination of the case before it, but the congresses had gone on, with the congress committee claiming that it received no order restraining it.

Addressing her supporters, who thronged to Yola from the 21 local government areas of the state, Binani urged them to leave everything in the hands of the court, which has fixed today as its next adjourned date.

“If the court decides that the conduct of the congresses is okay in spite of its order stopping them, we will abide; it is only if the court nullifies the congresses and the party insists on them that we may decide what next to do,” she told the supporters who assembled at the Lamido Cinema Hall in Jimeta, Yola.
