Actress and former Big Brother Naija star Bisola Aiyeola has spoken publicly about the 2018 death of her daughter Leyla’s father, describing it as a painful and unexpected loss.
In an interview on Ife Agoro’s show, Bisola recounted how he died while hospitalised for an illness.
She said the family had been hopeful after doctors set a discharge date and after a phone conversation in which he sounded improved and confirmed plans to leave the hospital on a Friday.
Days later, she received a call from someone using his phone informing her that he had passed away.
Bisola said the news left her, her mother, and her sister devastated. At the time, Leyla was eight years old, and the actress described telling her daughter about the loss as one of the most difficult moments of her life.
She also noted that he had remained an active presence in Leyla’s life and regularly checked on her.
“It was a heartbreaking experience. He died in August 2018. He was sick and had been on admission in the hospital. My mother, I, Leyla and my sister went to visit him in the hospital, and he died on Friday. We had even spoken over the phone, and he was sounding better and said he would be discharged on Friday. Someone later called me on his phone from the hospital and said he was no more,” she wrote.
