Rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has said that the rivalry between fans of Wizkid and Davido has played a major role in keeping both artistes relevant in the music industry.
Speaking in a 2021 interview with YouTuber Korty EO, Blaqbonez argued that the competitive fan culture has helped sustain the prominence of both stars for nearly two decades.
He noted that while artistes themselves may maintain mutual respect, the rivalry among their fan bases continues to drive engagement and attention around their music.

According to him, if the artistes were to openly display strong affection for each other, the intensity of their dominance could diminish.
Blaqbonez also described himself as non-competitive, but said he does not object to rivalry, especially when it fuels interest in the industry.
He said, “Wizkid and Davido can never fade. That hatred is the reason why they will be relevant forever. When they love each other, it is over. Love is for children. Artists can love each other, but the fans should never love each other.”
