Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, on Friday resigned from his position.

This decision was announced in a statement by Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, spokesman of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, citing "recent circumstances" that constrained the deputy governor's ability to fulfill his duties effectively.

The resignation came amid impeachment proceedings initiated by the Kano State House of Assembly, citing allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and breach of public trust.

The deputy governor had been facing pressure to resign following Governor Abba Yusuf's defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
