The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Emem Usoro, has commended the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government for its collaboration with the apex bank in building a resilient economy.
Usoro spoke at the weekend after receiving an honorary doctorate degree in Business Administration from the University of Uyo, noting that the partnership between the CBN and the federal government has strengthened economic growth and promoted sustainable development.
Addressing graduates at the institution’s combined 10th, 11th and 12th convocation ceremony, the Deputy Governor (Corporate Services) praised the administration’s economic reforms, stating that the CBN is actively implementing measures to stabilise the economy and avert potential crises.
“At the Central Bank of Nigeria, we are working to build a resilient economy that will support your aspirations and position you within a global economy filled with opportunities.
“We have introduced systems and policies that have steered the country away from economic instability and are repositioning the economy to serve all segments of society.
“In close collaboration with the Federal Government, we have aligned monetary policies with fiscal reforms. This has contributed to exchange rate stability, improved macroeconomic conditions, stimulated growth, and encouraged inclusive development,” she said.
Usoro expressed appreciation to the University of Uyo for the honour, describing it as deeply meaningful.
“To be honoured by one’s own people is profoundly significant. It affirms that sincere service and diligent work are recognised, even when carried out quietly,” she said.

She also acknowledged the roles of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who is the Visitor to the university, and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, for their contributions to the growth and development of the institution.
Usoro said, "Let me begin my acceptance speech by expressing my deep gratitude to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), for his faith and belief in my accomplishments which led to my appointment as a Deputy Governor in the Central Bank of Nigeria- the nation’s monetary institution and apex financial system regulator.
"I am also very thankful to His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno (PhD) for all his support. Your Excellency, your support has been unimaginable and I am deeply grateful. Thank you, sir.
"I acknowledge and thank my wonderful boss, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria- Mr Olayemi Cardoso- for his staunch support over the past few years and for being one of my biggest cheerleaders at the Bank. Thank you, Gov!
"My appreciation also goes out to my family, friends and colleagues from the Bank who are here to celebrate this day with me. Thank you all so much for coming.
"I appreciate the Senate President in dreaming of, and building, a university that is already creating great impact in such a short time must be commended and I extend my special gratitude to him for the brilliant foundation he has laid all over the state".
To the graduands, she said, "So, as you graduate today into a new world that is complex yet, full of possibilities, you must remain hungry for knowledge and be perpetually curious.
"Do not be afraid to ask questions and do not be apathetic to new knowledge. Always remember that excellence is rarely accidental but is a fruit of preparation, sacrifice, and perseverance!
"And to my beautiful young female graduands here today, please know that you may face more challenges in the workplace and the world, while having to juggle demanding professional responsibilities with equally important duties at home and within your communities.
"There will be many barriers, both visible and invisible, but I implore you not to be deterred and to continually strive beyond societal and cultural constraints."
