Nigeria–Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry has concluded a strategic board retreat to strengthen institutional capacity and enhance trade relations between Nigeria and Benin.

The retreat, at FAMS Embassy Suites in Badagry, brought together founding promoters and board of the chamber to deliberate on governance, operational structure and strategies to deepen cross-border economic cooperation.

President of the chamber, Alhaji Fatai Shokunbi, emphasised importance of a strong bilateral institution to drive trade facilitation, investment partnerships and policy advocacy for businesses operating within Nigeria–Benin corridor.

According to him, the chamber is committed to supporting private sector collaboration and removing barriers that hinder trade.

During the retreat, the board adopted key resolutions, including approval of the chamber’s constitution and bylaws, standing committees, and adoption of a five-year strategic plan covering 2026 to 2030.

It also approved a membership framework and registration structure to guide its operations.

The board further confirmed the chamber’s executive leadership with a two-year tenure. Shokunbi will be president, while Saratou Kabassi was confirmed first vice president and retired DCG, Mohammed Jibo, second vice president.
