The curtain fell on the 2026 President Beach Volleyball Cup yesterday at the Murtala Mohammed Square Beach Courts in Kaduna with four thrilling finals that produced worthy champions across the Men, Women, U17 Boys and U17 Girls categories.

Kano Pillars delivered a commanding performance to defeat Savannah Spikers 2-0 (21-18, 21-13) and lift the men’s title.

After edging a competitive first set 21-18, Pillars raised their intensity in the second, dominating at the net and capitalizing on unforced errors to seal a comfortable 21-13 win. Their blend of power, discipline and quick transitions proved too strong for Savannah, who had earlier shown grit in their semifinal victory.

Kano Pillars skipper Austin Uche described the triumph as hard-earned: “It is a great honour and privilege. It wasn’t an easy fight though, but we give God the glory for the victory. Our opponents gave us a good fight because all teams in the competition came with the mind-set to win.”

Looking ahead, he added :“We are expecting a more awesome performance and improved training before then. We shall return back to Kano and continue our preparation.”

Kada Emeralds emerged champions after a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Anista VC (26-28, 21-13, 15-13).

Anista snatched the opening set 28-26 in a tense battle, but Emeralds responded emphatically in the second, cruising 21-13 with improved coordination and stronger blocking. The deciding set was fiercely contested before Kada held their nerve to clinch it 15-13, completing a resilient turnaround.

Kada Prince showed grit to defeat Philric 2-1 (16-21, 21-19, 15-11) in a pulsating youth Under 17 Boys final.

After dropping the first set 21-16, Kada Prince regrouped to edge a tight second set 21-19. They carried that momentum into the decider, finishing strongly 15-11 to secure the title in impressive fashion.

Diamond Spikers dominated the U17 Girls final, beating Kogi Spikers 2-0 (23-21, 21-12).

The first set was competitive, with Diamond edging it 23-21. However, they took full control in the second, overwhelming Kogi 21-12 with aggressive serving and superior court coverage to seal the championship in straight sets.

Akapson, Adamawa Secure Bronze

Earlier, the third-place matches were concluded in decisive fashion.

In the men’s bronze playoff, Akapson VC defeated Philric VC 2-0 (21-16, 21-13). Akapson controlled the tempo from start to finish, displaying disciplined defence and sharp attacking play to claim a deserved podium finish.

In the women’s third-place encounter, Adamawa Spikers overpowered Katsina 2-0 (21-9, 21-16).

Adamawa were ruthless in the opening set, racing to a 21-9 win before maintaining composure to close out the second set 21-16.

With champions crowned and medals distributed, the 2026 President Beach Volleyball Cup concluded as a celebration of rising talent and elite competition, leaving Kano Pillars and the other category winners firmly in the spotlight as they look ahead to future challenges.
