Chibok needs no introduction. Since the sleepy community crept into our consciousness 12 years ago, it has been etched there. As a nation, we are still aching  from the pain inflicted on us with the abduction of over 200 girls from a school in the community on April 14, 2014.

The scar is visible not only in the homes of these girls, but across Nigeria and the world. Every April 14, the globe stands still for them for some seconds in remembrance of that night. The world has carried placards with the inscription: #Bringbackourgirls, while in the homes of some of the girls, the tears have not dried up because 89 are still said to be in captivity.

Will they ever return? Like their families, the world keeps hope alive that they may. It has been 12 long, nervy years, but no matter how long they remain in captivity, the world will keep carrying them in its hearts. How can we ever forget them and their parents, some of who have died from the trauma of the incident?
