The first difficulty I encountered in writing this article was settling the decision of picking a title for it. The first title that came into my head was, 'seven days is a long time in politics'. This was a quote from Harold Wilson, a one time Prime Minister of England, showing that in politics, so much could change in a short time that what was accepted logic, within seven days would have been overthrown and committed to oblivion completely. So much has happened in the world or to the world in the last few days that our understanding of the world order must be reset if we are to make any sense of what in the end could be a new world order. After due consideration, I chose not to use the Wilson quote but went on to use the one referring to chickens coming home to roost because it fits the current world situation but it is also as much a prophecy as current affairs.
The reference to chickens coming home to roost exists in literature in many different forms and is quoted over and over in the different forms in which it exists. The earliest version is credited to Chaucer when in his 'Pastor's tale' he asserted that curses return to the curser as surely as birds return to their nest in the evening. In other words, in every circumstance, you will surely reap what you have sown. Many centuries after Chaucer, Malcolm X, at that time a potent and very visible civil rights leader was asked to make a comment about the assassination of President Kennedy on the street in Dallas. Shot down under the clinical gaze of television cameras at the height of his power and pomp. Malcolm X's response was that as a farm boy growing up, he was always glad to see chickens come to roost every evening. Kennedy was a very popular President and many Americans were shocked at what they felt was a totally inappropriate comment. At that time, Malcolm X was a preacher in the Nation of Islam led by Elijah Muhammed and that comment earned him a ninety day suspension from preaching. When taken to task over this comment, Malcolm X explained that the level of hate within the American public at the time was so high that the public assassination of the slain president Kennedy was predictable as it was probably inevitable. His words proved to be tragically descriptive and prophetic. In the next four or is it five years Malcolm himself, Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King as well as a slew of lesser actors on the American public stage were dead, all of them slain with vengeful bullets in full public gaze. So many chickens were coming home to roost that they became extremely difficult to count.
Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963. After the most rigorous investigation over the many years that have elapsed, nobody knows those who were definitively responsible for his death. Malcolm X was shot in a hall full of people including his wife and children but those responsible for his death have never been positively identified. In the case of Dr. King, Mrs. Coretta King has refused to believe that the man who was found guilty of the killing of her husband was guilty as charged. All those deaths remain shrouded in mystery right up till now.

For the last seventy years or so, a fog of hate has fallen all over the USA and it is certainly not lifting soon. By the time Kennedy was shot, American boots were on the ground in Vietnam. Only a few of them were sent at the time, ostensibly to train South Vietnamese troops against the communist Viet Cong forces who wanted the whole of the Vietnamese peninsula to be under communist rule. The current situation in Nigeria must come to mind here or at least, it should not be dismissed. It may be just a coincidence that Kennedy, like the Diem brothers who held sway in South Vietnam were Roman Catholics when most Vietnamese were either Atheist or Buddhist. The Catholic Church angle is still worth mentioning, if only in passing. The Americans stayed in Vietnam until 1975 before they were forcefully ejected. But not before 3 million Vietnamese had been made unalive and their country denuded of forest cover under relentless spraying from the air with extremely toxic defoliants. Today, Vietnam is a communist country. So, what was all that blood letting in aid of? The USA got a bloody nose in Vietnam but she did not learn any lesson worth writing about from that experience.
Since the debacle in Vietnam, the US military has dropped kilotons of bombs on dozens of countries around the world. She has constructed military bases, some eight hundred of them, in practically all parts of the world and she is still not quite far from satisfied with her security status. She saw off the month of February with a pre-emptive strike against Iran, a country seven thousand kilometres away 'in defence of her security'. There could be no hint of a threat to her security seeing that Iran has no weapons with which she could theaten any part of the USA. However, Iran had a demonstrable ability to strike at Israel, perhaps the only ally still standing with the USA. Indeed, conventional wisdom has it that America has gone to war this time at the behest of Israel. It is a war that has been canvassed by Netenyahu for several decades and he waited for a US president that was dumb enough to oblige him. He must have thought that he had won the lottery when Donald Trump came along as President of the USA, a man whose intellectual capacity is, to put it mildly, quite limited. It also has to be said that the Donald has his own agenda, an agenda which has nothing to do with the security of his country.
Over a period of many years Trump was close friends with Jeffrey Epstein, a living breathing enigma if ever there was one. It is probably easier to describe what he was not rather than talk about what he was. A mathematical genius from a humble social background, he made so much money that not only did he have a private island but was also a prominent member of the global jet set. He was also a dedicated paedophile who with the help of Ghislaine Maxwell seriously tampered sexually with the lives of thousands of young girls whose lives were ruined irrepairably in the process. He had a large circle of friends, some of whom participated very actively in all his depravities obviously without knowing that all their actions were secretly digitally recorded in one form or the other. These recordings have formed what the world has come to know as the Epstein files. The man has been dead for seven years but he lives on in those files which tell the story of his life and the nefarious activities of his multitude of famous friends. What stands out prominently about the contents of those files is their potential for blackmail and it is clear that they have given him a whip hand over a lot of prominent people. It is said that Epstein was connected to the Israeli intelligence services which, through him, had all his high profile friends in the bag. One of those who got an honourable mention in those files is Donald Trump and he is trying tooth and nail to prevent his outing over this matter. That is one fat chicken of many that appears to be coming home to roost in Donald's backyard very much against his wish. He has installed a big fox in his backyard to prevent that chicken from roosting and the word is out that the fox bears a close resemblance to Benjamin Nettenyahu. No wonder then that the current President of the USA is now said to be doing the bidding of Israel over the crackling skies of Teheran as he prances around in places where even angels fear to tread cautiously.
There are unfolding signs that this adventure will not end well for Trump, America and the rest of the world.
