The guest lecturer at a Ramadan lecture in Mushin, Lagos, Sheikh Abdulfatai Sulaimon, has called on Muslims to remain steadfast in prayer and draw closer to Almighty Allah, stressing that spiritual devotion is the foundation for success and protection in life.
Sulaimon, who spoke at the 12th edition of the lecture, urged the faithful to strengthen their relationship with God, noting that true upliftment comes from consistent communication with the Creator.
He said: “The only way we can truly succeed in this life is by being close to Almighty Allah. Prayer brings spiritual upliftment and when someone is spiritually uplifted, God provides guidance and protection.”
The cleric also called for patience in all aspects of life, warning that impatience could hinder progress and delay blessings.

Life itself requires patience. If you are not patient, you may disrupt your own progress and obstruct the good things meant for you. The Qur’an teaches that when believers call upon Allah, He is close to them and will answer their prayers”, he said.
He urged Muslims to show compassion and extend support to the less privileged, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Also speaking, a cleric, Alhaji Shuaib Ajala reinforced the call for prayer, describing it as a vital tool for overcoming life’s challenges and limitations.
“Prayer is a weapon for every Muslim. Sometimes you see people who are highly qualified and hardworking, yet they struggle to succeed. With prayer, however, many things become possible because it brings divine support,” he said.
The event also featured the launch of the Hamruf Foundation, an initiative aimed at providing humanitarian support to elderly and vulnerable members of the community.
Director of the foundation, Rauf Hammed, said the initiative was inspired by his personal experience and desire to care for the elderly.
“I lost my parents when I was about 19 years old, and since then I have always had a special concern for the elderly. Many elderly people today have lost their children or their children are not financially stable enough to care for them. This foundation is our way of supporting them,” he said.
According to him, the foundation commenced its activities with the distribution of food items to 100 beneficiaries, including 50 elderly persons and 50 other vulnerable individuals.
