A Magistrates’ Court in Abuja yesterday, ordered a businessman, Musa Ibrahim, to sweep the Amur Mosque premises in Wuse II, for one month for stealing electrical cable.

Adeleju said while others were on queue for the meal, the convict followed the back door and removed the mosque’s electric cable.

He said during police investigations, he confessed to the crime.

The prosecutor said the cable, which was worth N2 million, was recovered from him.

Ibrahim begged for leniency and promised never to commit such an offence.

Magistrate Lami Sani sentenced Ibrahim after he pleaded guilty to mischief and theft.
