A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has ordered Promiseland Estate developers and other parties to halt any further development on the disputed Al-Barka Estate land located in Wuye District pending the determination of a suit on ownership.
The order, obtained by our reporter, followed a legal dispute over a vast parcel of land earmarked for the proposed development of Al-Barka Estate.
The suit, filed on January 20, 2026, is before Court 63 of the FCT High Court in Suit No. FCT/HC/CV/216/2026 between Promise Land Building and Construction Limited & 2 Others and Goldenbird Investment Limited & Another.
According to the claimants, the dispute centres on Plots 1841, 1842, 1843, and 1844 in Cadastral Zone BO3, Wuye District, Abuja.
Goldenbird Investment Limited, the first defendant, maintains it has been in possession and control of the land since 2007, operating a park and recreational facility known as Golden Bird Park while preserving the area as part of the green zone under the FCT Master Plan.
At the hearing on February 16, counsel to Goldenbird Investment, alongside lawyers for parties seeking joinder, drew the court’s attention to an alleged breach of an earlier order made on January 28, 2026.
The court was informed that despite initiating the action, the claimants allegedly forcefully took possession of the disputed property on February 6, 2026.

The judge directed all parties to maintain the status quo and refrain from any activity, development, or interference with the property until the substantive suit is determined.
The court noted that the order was necessary to preserve the subject matter of the litigation and subsequently granted an accelerated hearing of the case.
The judge further warned the parties to respect the authority and integrity of the court and not take the law into their own hands pending the resolution of the ownership dispute.
The order has reportedly been pasted on the disputed property and served on all parties, with an additional copy forwarded to the Nigerian Police for enforcement in the interest of justice, peace, and the protection of lives and property within the FCT.
The matter was adjourned to March 19 for hearing.
