Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ayuk, has said the Chinese COVID-19 patient receiving treatment at the state’s isolation centre is due for discharge soon.

Ayuk disclosed this on Thursday after visiting the facility to assess the patient’s progress.

“I was at the isolation centre today to review the management of the index case. I am pleased to note that the patient has responded well to treatment and is due for discharge very soon,” he said.

He commended the management of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) and the medical team led by Dr. Blessing Inyang, as well as members of the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC), for their efforts.

The commissioner, who was Wearing personal protective equipment during the visit, they also interacted with healthcare workers on duty about the patient’s condition.
