Socialite and nightlife entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has condemned the recent killings in Jos, Plateau State, describing the violence as disturbing and inhumane.

In a post shared on Instagram, Okechukwu expressed anguish over the loss of lives, saying images from the attacks have continued to trouble him.

“I have been cold. In the past few days, the video of that woman and her child hasn’t left my mind. When will these killings stop? How do people find happiness in killing one another?” he said.

He also criticised the response of local authorities, particularly the use of a specialised security vehicle during the governor’s visit to the affected community.

According to him, leadership requires courage and a willingness to identify with the people in times of crisis.

“The governor in Jos arrived in a bunker. Does that mean everyone should now move into bunkers because he is more afraid than the people? Leadership demands fearlessness and readiness to make sacrifices,” he stated, expressing sympathy for residents of the state.

Okechukwu further alleged that the timing of the attacks was deliberate, claiming it was intended to embarrass President Bola Tinubu on his birthday.

“This was clearly done to embarrass our president on his birthday,” he said, urging security agencies to adopt more proactive measures.

He also called on authorities to strengthen the protection of national leaders and prayed for capable individuals to support the President in addressing the country’s security challenges.

“Security agencies should brace up to their task; allowing this kind of embarrassment to your principal is embarrassing. I pray God gives President Tinubu the energy to select people capable of leading with him,” he added.

This reaction follows reports from Governor Mutfwang confirming that 28 people were killed in a "senseless" attack by gunmen in the Angwan Rukuba community.

The governor has since assured the public that the perpetrators will face justice.

The incident occurred as President Tinubu marked his 74th birthday on Sunday with a low-key celebration, citing the various challenges currently facing the country.
