UK-based gospel minister Sola Cymbal is set to lead a gathering of gospel artists at the Elevation Church, Maryland, Lagos, this Sunday, in an event she describes as more than just a concert.
The programme, titled Shabach Encounter 2.0, will begin at 2 p.m. and is expected to bring together worshippers for what Cymbal calls a deeply spiritual experience centred on worship, warfare, and witness.
Cymbal, who has been in Lagos for the past two weeks preparing for the event, said anticipation has been building since last year’s edition.

According to her, Shabach Encounter goes beyond the usual gospel music event.
“It is not just a concert, but a spiritual gathering designed for deep worship, prophetic praise, and divine encounter,” she said. “The word ‘Shabach,’ from Psalm 149:6, refers to a loud, triumphant praise that brings victory, and that is the atmosphere we aim to create.”
She explained that the event is built around what she calls the “3Ws” — Worship, Warfare, and Witness — a structure intended to encourage active participation rather than passive listening.
“People don’t just come to watch or listen. They are part of the experience and are expected to encounter God in a personal and transformative way,” she added.
Cymbal said Lagos was chosen deliberately because of its diversity and influence.

“Lagos is a melting pot of cultures and people. It has a strong spiritual hunger and offers a wide platform to reach a large and diverse audience across Nigeria and beyond,” she said.
She also hinted that the initiative could expand to other cities, including Ibadan and Abuja, as well as international locations in the future.
Organisers expect between 1,200 and 1,500 attendees, though Cymbal stressed that success would not be measured by numbers alone.
“For us, success is about lives being transformed — people leaving strengthened, healed, uplifted, and closer to God,” she said.
In addition to the main programme, there are plans to provide refreshments and support for attendees as part of a broader community outreach effort.
Cymbal concluded that the ultimate goal of the event is to inspire testimonies and create lasting spiritual impact among participants..
