The outgoing Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, on Thursday formally handed over the ministry's affairs, expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dangiwa described his tenure as a rare privilege and a defining moment in his public service career, particularly in advancing access to affordable housing and strengthening urban development across the country.
“I take a bow with a heart full of gratitude and deep reflection for the confidence reposed in me by the President to enable key reforms and initiatives in the housing sector." He said.

The former minister also acknowledged the support of the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, as well as the ministry’s management, staff, and stakeholders in the built environment, including developers and professional bodies, for their roles in achieving the ministry’s mandate.
Dangiwa urged continued collaboration among stakeholders, expressing confidence that the foundation laid during his tenure would yield lasting benefits for the country’s housing sector.

He welcomed the Minister of State, Abdullahi Yusuf Ata, who now takes over leadership of the ministry, describing him as a seasoned technocrat and calling for maximum cooperation from staff and partners.
In his remarks, Ata praised Dangiwa’s leadership, professionalism, and vision, describing his exit as a significant loss to the ministry.

He said he had benefited from Dangiwa’s mentorship since joining the ministry and pledged to build on the foundation laid, while assuring that the ministry would continue to consult the former minister when necessary.
Ata also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, pledging commitment to the administration’s agenda in the housing and urban development sector.
The handover ceremony marks a leadership transition at the ministry, with stakeholders expressing optimism about continuity in policy direction and reforms.
