Estate surveyor and valuer, Lasisi Abiodun, has advised against investing without proper evaluation.
He said taking investment decisions without proper asset valuation was akin to navigating without a map, increasing the likelihood of financial loss and operational failure.
Abiodun, in a paper: ‘Assets Valuation as a Tool of Making an Investment Decision’, said asset valuation provides the intrinsic worth of an investment, and without it, investors are exposed to market speculation rather than fundamental reality.

He said seven decision-making tools were involved and they included identify the decision, gather relevant information, identify the alternatives, weigh the evidence, choose among alternatives, take action, review your decision and its consequences.
He said investing without understanding valuation could lead to overpaying for assets, exposing investors to significant losses.
He noted that valuation was a critical decision-making tool that quantified the worth of assets, projects, or companies based on future cash flows, risks and market conditions.
Abiodun said estate surveyors and valuers were trained in conducting asset valuation and contacting one that would remove the headaches of wrong investment.
