The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has responded to widespread public concern over a viral video on social media.
In the clip, a young woman tearfully recounted her alleged experience of s3xual assault that occurred at her own residence.
The agency, on Tuesday, confirmed it is fully aware of the circulating reports and the multiple tags drawing attention to the case.
"The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has taken note of the multiple tags and public concerns regarding a video currently circulating on social media, in which a young woman shared her experience of sexual assault at her residence on her TikTok page", the statement partly reads.
DSVA stated that its team is actively working to locate and contact the survivor and efforts are underway to provide her with immediate support, necessary interventions, and to verify key details such as the incident's location.
Initial outreach attempts have already begun through available channels, and the agency pledged to persist until communication is successfully established.
"We want to state clearly that we have seen the reports and we are actively making efforts to reach the survivor to offer immediate support and appropriate intervention and ascertain the location. Our team has initiated contact through available channels and will continue efforts to establish communication".
DSVA appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with credible, verifiable information that could help reach the survivor safely and directly to send a direct message (DM) to any of the agency's official social media accounts.
"If anyone has credible information that can assist us in reaching her directly and safely, please contact the Agency by sending us a DM on any of our official social media channels".

Reaffirming the Lagos State Government's firm position, the statement emphasised zero tolerance for all forms of domestic and s3xual violence.
It described s3xual assault as a serious crime, underscoring that every survivor is entitled to full protection, compassionate care, comprehensive support, and justice.
"The Lagos State Government maintains a zero tolerance stance against all forms of Domestic and Sexual Violence. Sexual Assault is a crime, and every survivor deserves protection, care, support and justice".
The agency encouraged all survivors to come forward without fear, assuring that reports are handled with the highest level of confidentiality and treated as urgent priorities.
"We encourage survivors to speak up and assure the public that reports are treated with utmost confidentiality and urgency", the agency concluded.
