Nigeria's D'Tigress have been handed a stern group-stage assignment at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 after Tuesday's draw at the Kraftwerk in Berlin placed them in Group B alongside Hungary, South Korea and France.
The tournament, the twentieth edition of the competition, will tip off on 4 September and run through 13 September, with the field expanded from 12 to 16 teams.
For the reigning African champions, the group presents a balanced but demanding set of opponents. France, a perennial European powerhouse, represent the sternest test, while Hungary's tactical discipline and South Korea's tempo-driven style will demand adaptability across the campaign.

Nigeria enter the tournament as one of four continental champions-a status that reflects their growing stature in the global game. Their Pot 2 seeding was based on consistent performances in African competition and increasingly competitive outings on the world stage.
In preparation for the World Cup, D'Tigress are scheduled to embark on a training tour of the United States, where they will face three WNBA sides — the Los Angeles Sparks, the Minnesota Lynx and the Indiana Fever — in high-profile friendly matches before the end of this month.
The games are designed to sharpen tactical execution, physical conditioning and exposure to elite-level competition as Nigeria fine-tunes its roster ahead of September's global showdown in Berlin.
