Major opposition parties like African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are yet to declare interest to contest the local government poll.

It was, however, gathered that Edo APC has given nod to five acting chairmen to return unopposed.

Sources listed Oredo, Egor, Ikpoba-Okha, Estako West and Esan West as local governments where right of first refusal has been granted.

Governor Monday Okpebholo has reportedly pulled off pressure by insisting not to endorse any candidate.

Close aides to Okpebholo said he asked leaders of local governments to work on consensus candidates or contest at the primary.

Edo APC Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, said the party would conduct credible primary election.
