Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has announced plans to end power outages in the state by decentralising electricity generation and distribution, reducing reliance on the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).

"The issue of electricity is very important because it has become a problem for us as a people. We flagged off 100MW of power in Benin City, we will also have 100MW here too.

"The inauguration of 100MW of power in Edo Central will enable us to decentralize the power sector and ensure our people in Afemai and Edo Central enjoy electricity".

Gov Okpebholo said his administration's commitment in transforming the state remains resolute hence his administration has embarked on numerous developmental projects across the three senatorial districts of the State.

"My administration has flagged off 100 MW electricity projects in Benin City and will also have a 100 MW in Edo Central Senatorial District to decentralise the power system in the state.

"The success of my administration in the last one year is due to the support from President Bola Ahmed and I am happy that His Royal Highness (HRH) Anselm Edenojie II is supporting the quest for 2.5 million votes for the President in the 2027 Presidential election.

"I have even told the President not to come to Edo during the campaign. But only come to Edo during the commissioning of projects".

He sad the administration of former Godwin Obaseki rushed to commission uncompleted projects across the State.

"They deceived Edo people that the Stella Obasanjo Hospital has been completed but the present administration is spending so much money on completing the Stella Obasanjo hospital.

Ojuoromi of Uromi HRH Anselm Edenojie 11 urged the

governor to look into the abandoned Ahojie Township Stadium.

"Sports and recreation are vital to the development of any society, especially for our youth. It is with deep regret that I note the long-abandoned Ahojie Township Stadium project.

'A functional stadium in Uromi would not only promote youth engagement in sports but also folster talent development, spur economic activity ,and instill community pride."
