The Director General of the BAO 2026 Campaign Organisation, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, has expressed confidence that Governor Biodun Oyebanji would secure victory in the June 20 governorship poll in Ekiti State.

Fasuyi said that the All Progressives Congress is poised to break the long-standing second-term jinx in the state, noting that the governor’s unparalleled performance in office has positioned the party strongly for re-election.

The Nation recalls that since the creation of Ekiti State in 1996, no governor has successfully governed the state in two consecutive terms under uninterrupted transition.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti ahead of the official flag-off slated for April 27, 2026, the campaign DG said the governor had delivered on key sectors of governance,  including infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture.

He added that projects executed across the 16 local government areas and 22 Local Council Development Areas have significantly improved the living conditions of residents and transformed the state into an epicenter of development.

"Let me place the facts on the table. Four years ago, ex- governor Kayode Fayemi handed a clear mandate to his would-be successor, that he should surpass him in terms of performance. Governor Oyebanji accepted the challenge, and the rest is history.

"Our roads have been fixed across all 16 LGAs and 22 LCDAs. Schools have been renovated, teachers get trained, and bursaries restored. Health centres now wear a new look, having been renovated, well-equipped, and properly staffed", he said.

The campaign DG also highlighted the administration's strides in transparency and fiscal management, noting that Ekiti state had recorded impressive ratings in national performance indices, while food inflation had significantly dropped to one of the lowest levels in the country.

He disclosed that the ruling APC would run an issue-based campaign anchored on verifiable achievements rather than engage in political mudslinging, noting that Governor Oyebanji’s track record would speak for itself.

"Our directive is clear. Perish the thought of violence from our side. We have told every of our members to market our record, and not abuse any opponent. Mr Governor has kept Ekiti the most secure state in Nigeria. We will not destroy that record during the campaign. We will deal in facts, not fights", Fasuyi added.

Fasuyi stated that the party had already commenced aggressive mobilisation at the grassroots, with party members engaging in door-to-door and ward-level canvassing, adding that April 27 would only serve as a formal kick-off in line with the electoral timetable.

He maintained that the campaign would be peaceful and inclusive, directing party members across the 177 wards to focus on marketing the achievements rather than attacking opponents.

The campaign DG added that the party was targeting victory across all the 177 wards in the state, expressing optimism that with unity, discipline, and support of the electorate, Oyebanji would secure a resounding victory

"Our objective is for the APC to win for Governor Biodun Oyebanji in all the 177 Wards of Ekiti State. We are targeting a minimum of 500,000 votes. With unity, discipline, and hard work, it is achievable," he added.
