The Vice- Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere, Ekiti (BOUESTI), Prof. Andrew Omojola, has lauded Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for approving the construction of a five-kilometre intra-campus road.

Omojola described the approval as a strategic and impactful decision that would ease mobility, enhance campus connectivity, and stimulate further physical development at the university.

Omojola applauded the governor Oyebanji-led administration's irrevocable commitment to strengthening higher education in the state, saying that sustained investment in infrastructure, research, and academic development had positioned BOUESTI for greater competitiveness.

The VC noted that the university had made significant progress and was among the fastest-growing state universities in Nigeria, though the rising student population had put pressure on existing facilities, particularly hostel accommodation.

Omojola therefore appealed to the state government to urgently intervene and provide additional hostel facilities to improve students’ welfare and enhance learning conditions.

In his remarks, the Chancellor of the university, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to drive the institution’s transformation, stressing that education thrives on collective responsibility.

He also appealed to corporate organizations, agencies, and well- meaning individuals to partner with the university, saying such collaborations would not only sustain the institution but also expand its frontiers.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Dipo Aina, said that the university was transitioning from its foundational phase to consolidation and expansion, with a focus on governance, academic strengthening, infrastructure development, and institutional renewal.

While acknowledging progress, Aina noted that the institution still faces challenges in funding, infrastructure, and capacity, adding that these present opportunities for partnerships and growth.

Governor Oyebanji, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector as a driver of sustainable development.

He said the government would continue to invest in higher institutions to produce graduates who are academically sound, innovative, and morally grounded.

The governor commended the pioneering Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Victor Adeoluwa, for laying a solid foundation for the institution's growth and urged graduating students to become job creators and solution providers rather than job seekers.
