They are Hajiya Inna Maryam Chiroma as Jakadiyar Biu; Alhaji Husseini, as Galadiman Biu; Alhaji Ibrahim Viukuthla as Wazirin Yamman Biu; Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Kadafur as Shamakin Biu; and Tahir Usman Kadafur as Adon Garin Biu.

The ceremony, held at the Emir’s Palace in Biu, Borno State, attracted dignitaries, traditional rulers, and residents from across the state and beyond.

However, the elevation of Hajiya Chiroma stood out, underscoring the Emirate’s recognition of women’s roles in leadership, peacebuilding, and community development. Her appointment is widely interpreted as a strategic move to foster greater inclusion and strengthen social cohesion within the Biu Emirate.

After the turbaning, the new title holders paid homage to the Emir, pledging loyalty and service to the emirate.

The Emir explained that some of the titles, including that of Jakadiyar Biu, were introduced to promote unity, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and mutual understanding among the diverse communities in the emirate.

He charged the title holders to justify the confidence reposed in them by contributing meaningfully to the growth, stability, and harmony of the Biu Emirate. He also offered prayers for sustained peace in Borno State and Nigeria at large.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, Chiroma expressed appreciation to the Emir for the honour. She pledged to work with the Emirate Council to advance development and strengthen unity across the emirate.

Chiroma also commended the dignitaries, including the state Deputy Governor, who represented Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, among others.

The event featured a durbar, with traditional horse rides and colourful cultural displays.

Performances by traditional dancers and entertainers, including Dankwairo Biu and Gombe, Maliki dancers, Mohd Mai Gurmi, Fati Gombe, Tamarin Askira, and Musa Yerima, added glamour and excitement to the occasion.
